Wall Street Journal Reporting Mubarak's Speech was... →
evilteabagger: Interesting. No surprise here. I’m still sceptical about reports that he left Cairo in a private jet, but the notion of him being in hiding is certainly likely.

– From the AP’s report on developments in Egypt. What is this dialogue supposed to achieve if concessions or indeed any help are already ruled out? A pointless remark.

Limit of holding terror suspects for 28-days... →
Good news, particularly considering that out of the 6 times it was used, half the suspects were released uncharged. That someone could be imprisoned for nearly a month without evidence against them has always struck me as a severe attack on freedom.

Amnesty International: “Baby Doc” Duvalier Must... →
Former Haitian president, Jean-Claude “Baby Doc” Duvalier, returned suddenly to Haiti this past weekend after living in exile for nearly 25 years in France.  We are calling on Haiti to use this opportunity to bring Duvalier to justice for human rights abuses committed during his regime in the 1970s and 80s. The widespread and systematic human rights violations committed in Haiti during...
